Deed of property from Elisha Ayer to Tristram Jordan, both of Pepperellbrough, Mass. (now Saco, Maine) in consideration of his payment for the land, attested by justice of the peace Joseph Sullivan. Witnessed by Olive Nason and Olive Harren. Dated 8 & 9 July 1778.

Elisha Ayer, a native of Haverhill, Mass., early in his life moved to Pepperellborough (Saco) in Maine. A highly successful business man and trader owning all of Cutt's Island (now Factory Island) he married Mary, the sister of Senator James McLellan, and moved to Newfield, Maine, in 1790 to become the scion of one of the town's leading families. He was the principal proprietor of Washington Plantation and his farm was located just south of Symmes Pond. From the description of Letter...
